Second Child Syndrome

Is there a name for it? Maybe it's "second child syndrome". I don't know, but whatever it is, Sawyer has it! She is definitely different than her sister was at this age and maybe it's because she has an older sister to look up to. She wants to do any and everything like Dakota. She's also in her own little world. We'll catch her off to the side dancing, twirling, talking in her own funny language making the oddest faces. She's quite the character and has us laughing all the time! Today at lunch time she looks at me with this worried face and points to her nose. Then she starts whining, sticking her finger up it. So I looked up her nose and sure enough, there's half of a goldfish up there. So I grabbed the flashlight and told her to blow her nose. After about four tries it came out, thank goodness! Let's hope there's no trips to the ER in our future.

Life's a Beach!

Last Friday Ramon took the day off and we headed over to Pismo with the girls. We wanted a day to see the ocean and let the girls play in the sand. Sam, Therese and their girls were there for the weekend. They met up with us and the kids had a blast. We definitely need to do this more often. It was fun, relaxing and a great excuse to eat some Splash.

Third Opinion

So here we are again! For those of you that don't know, we've been concerned with Sawyer's feet. They turn in a little, especially the left one. We voiced our concern with her pediatrician before she was walking and at her 12mo. appt. and she wasn't concerned with it. When we took her for her 18mo. appt. it was then that her ped. referred us to a local podiatrist. She was ready to have "Soy" fitted for shoes that are attached to a metal bar that she'd sleep with. When I called to see if her equipment was ready the Dr. didn't think that was the right solution and then referred us to Valley Children's. After 10 min. at that appt. the orthopaedic said she'd be fine and grow out of it. Well that just didn't sit well with me. So after talking to my chiropractor he suggested looking into Shriner's Hospital in L.A. So we now have an appt. at Shriner's in May. I pray that we receive a better answer to what's going on with Soy's feet if anything at all. We'll keep you posted!

Easter

Waiting patiently in the garage for the hunt to start

Easter Egg Hunt at Papa & Nanny's Saturday

Easter Morning

Easter Celebration at Vava's

The Easter festivities started on Friday. We took the girls to Papa & Nana's to dye eggs. They had so much fun dying and decorating their eggs with sparkles and stickers, etc.
The next morning we returned to Papa & Nana's where the girls went on an easter egg hunt. Vivian was there with us and instead of hunting eggs she helped Therese and I hide them. She's getting so big. Our church offers a Saturday evening Easter service so we attended that one. The next morning we headed out to Woodlake for an Easter celebration at Karen's house (Sam's mom a.k.a. "Vava"). All the kids and cousins were out there, they had an easter egg hunt, went swimming and ate lots of great food. Poor Sawyer missed most of it due to a 3 hour long nap. We had a lot of fun! Easter didn't stop there for the girls. Their Grandma Linda came by on Monday and surprised the girls with Easter bags. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

"The Truth About Motherhood"

Okay so did anyone catch the Oprah episode last Monday? My mom called me and told me to turn it on and that it would be good for me to watch. I guess maybe b/c I'm always second guessing myself and unsure if I'm doing the right thing when it comes to mothering my girls. What one woman said stuck with me. She said we need to start being honest with eachother. Meaning with other moms and being there for eachother. Motherhood isn't always easy and the more you're able to share honestly with other moms, the more you'll realize you're not the only one that might be going through this or that! I want my friends to know that I'm there for them.

So here's a me, mom moment. I put the girls down for a nap and began getting done what I could before they woke. Well I heard Dakota up in her room and her closet door open and close. My first instinct is to go in there and tell her to get back to bed but something told me to let her be and I'm so glad I did. After about 30 minutes of quiet I went in to check on her. And the above picture is what I found. Priceless!

A Day at the Zoo

It was a beautiful day at the Fresno Zoo this last Thursday. We were able to go before the rain came. There were about 20 of us including 2 grandmas which was a huge help. The zoo was crowded, due to Spring Break. Of course Sawyer wanted to walk like the big kids. I'm so glad my mom decided to come. She was an extra set of eyes for me. We have to constantly tell Dakota to be a good example because "Soy" is always watching her and wants to do what she's doing. The day was a success. Sawyer only had one meltdown and Dakota had a lot of fun!

Camping with the Espinoza's

Gma Linda, DK & Nick Mercedes & Tiffani

Gpa Ramon & DK Ricky the Storyteller

Soy(not having it), DK & Reese

This last weekend we met up with Ramon's parents and went camping for one night with the girls. We had a nice time but what was even better was watching the girls explore and have fun with their cousins. My in-laws brought some of the other grandkids, Nick, Tiff, Mercedes and Reese. My brother in laws Ricky and Roberto were there too. I don't know what it is when I go camping but I think it's okay to snack and snack and snack. I got there and started eating all the "junk" food we brought along with what was already there. Needless to say, Sunday I didn't feel very good. I don't know if it was the food I ate, the restless and cold sleep I got or this flu bug that's been going around. When we got home I was in bed from noon to the next morning and am just getting better. Whatever I had, I passed it to Sawyer who threw up Sunday and Dakota who was throwing up Tuesday. Luckily Ramon hasn't got it and I hope he doesn't! I'm just glad we got it now and not this coming Easter weekend.

I hope you all have a Happy Easter!
